As much as people want to rule the world, there are other organisms that share this habitual space with us. Living things, both big and micro small, compete with humanity every day to live and survive. There are micro-organisms that do so and not all of them cohabit the environment with us peacefully. There are pathogens in the form of bacteria, micro-organisms, and virus that have the ability to cause harm to humanity. They make people sick and they can cause death.
Throughout history, there were diseases that put humankind to the test. These pandemics range from Cholera, Malaria, Yellow Fever and Small Pox disease to the pandemic we are experiencing now called COVID-19. Some of the common pathogens, once that you surely heard of can be lethal to people. Thankfully, with the formulated cures for most diseases, man can be safer from these pathogens. However, practices should still be done to prevent these.
As such, people should be extra careful in dealing with these pathogens. If left alone, these micro-organisms can cause danger to young children, old people, or even people who are healthy. These pathogens can be anywhere. They can be breeding in that murky collection of water source in your backyard. More alarmingly, they can be in your workspaces without you knowing. Dirty spaces in your offices can be a good ground for these parasites.
Luckily, these pathogens can be treated and sent to banishment. Keep yourself free from preventable danger in your offices. Pay extra attention to hygiene and add an extra layer of safety. These are some ways to make you safer from harm and in keeping these pathogens away from you:
One of the simplest ways to deal with micro-organisms is to wash your hands every single time. There’s a standard and effective way of doing so. Wash your hands with clean water and use an appropriate amount of antibacterial handwashing soap to coat your hands. Make sure the soap stays in your hands for at least 20 seconds and you cover all surfaces, rubbing in the soap in your palms, outer hands, wrists and between your fingernails. Dry them afterwards.
Keep your desks and workspaces clean by constantly wiping it with disinfectant solution. Before you start your work for the day, you can spray some cleaning solution on the desk and wipe it completely. Wait for it to dry before starting to do your day’s worth of work. Sanitising these spaces in your office is a good practice that doesn’t even cost that much time and effort.
Your office pantry and break room might have many things to help in balancing your day’s work. You can eat food, store some food or use the pantry ware during your break. However, make sure to keep things extra clean, not just for you, but for everybody else. Wash your plates, mugs, utensils properly after use to prevent bacteria from growing when left alone. From the fridge, coffee pot and microwave and more, clean your appliances constantly.
Your trash bin can also be a source or good breeding ground of pathogen. Depending on the rubbish you throw, it’s proper practice to keep your garbage bins clean and sanitise and always free from whatever trash as much as possible. Make sure to constantly disinfect and purify the garbage bin too.
We all live in turbulent times where our enemies aren’t as big as machinery or technology. We are all plagued by things that are even smaller than a dot on our hand. These micro-organisms have the power to spell out life and death and everybody is susceptible to these. Bacteria and viruses don’t choose their host. It digs in the most vulnerable ones that it can grow as a parasite that can take advantage of the structure and wreak danger along the way.
