Truly, we all live in challenging times. The human race is under the threat and mercy of a pathogen that can literally wipe millions of people away. The Coronavirus pandemic began before this decade started and right now, everybody is under the radar of society norms. A single cough can spell disaster. Physical contact may be deadly. We are all religiously called to practise methods that can mitigate the spread of a virus that thrives via human contact.

As such, there are ways to combat this distress. If everybody works together to embody the new norm of reducing human contact in order to flatten the curve of the viral infection, everybody can defeat this infinitesimally smaller parasite. We are all called to embrace essential health and hygiene practices to beat COVID-19 and return to a more normal aspect of life.

These are some of the essential ways to keep this virus from further spreading:

Staying indoors and self-quarantine

Staying inside your home and avoiding physical contact is one of the best ways to combat the virus. Physical contact transmits the virus fast. This means, lessen going out to establishments to get some goods. There are certain services right now that are permitted in responding to the procurement of basic goods and needs. The fewer people you come in contact with, the better it is that the virus is contained. Staying in is the new normal and everybody should practise this.

Social distancing

If ever the need arises to really go out, practise social distancing. When you’re lining up or walking with people around. Maintain at least a 6-feet radius radar away from the next person you’re with. The farther you are from people, the less the virus gets transmitted in its most optimal way, which is physical human contact. Avoid crowded places and work fast with getting what you need. Go to your home afterwards and clean up.

Washing hands

Your hands are the most in contact with other things and other people. When you open the entry to your home, eat your meals, or prepare food for the family, wash your hands. Make sure that when you do, you lather and spread the hand-washing liquid, soap, or disinfectant, follow the 20-second rule of hand-washing. Make sure to cover your palms up to the insides of your fingers, your fingernails, and the area slightly above your wrists.

Disinfect yourself and your home

It’s not enough to disinfect your hands only. Practise your own personal hygiene by taking a bath every day. Use disinfecting bath solutions to target and clean germs and virus that you are carrying.

Prioritise cleaning your home well. Have some rubbing alcohol, cleaning solution or disinfecting wipes available all the time. Make sure to thoroughly clean areas that are often in direct contact with you like doorknobs, faucet handles, food containers, fridge handles, etc.

Wearing a face mask

If you need to go out, make sure to put on a mask on your face. N-95 masks and disposable masks are some of the face-wear PPE you should have when you’re out and about. Having a face mask on doesn’t only protect you from having the virus come in contact with the mucous membrane in your nose and mouth, it also protects the people you talk to in case you have the pathogen. It prevents the spread of the infection via droplets.

Wearing a face mask is the new fashion trend right now.

Conclusion

Everybody has the part and the basic knowledge to prevent the further spread of the virus. By doing simple tasks and tricks that can contribute to the overall tidiness around right now, the less chance the virus has of taking more lives. Let’s do our part to help curb and eventually end COVID-19.
